Hmmm, where do I begin? When I started my photography journey, I never thought for a second that maternity and new born photography was a field I would want to get in to.
Well, to be honest it all started last year, my girlfriend and I were expecting a baby and we wanted to document the whole experience. I love taking photos of her and she has been my muse ever since I bought my first camera (a Canon Rebel)
As soon as I posted her photos, the response has been overwhelming, expectant moms and moms with new borns flooded my inbox. Wow! I had tapped into a market with had huge potential. Maternity photography to say the least is very sensitive. It one of the most self-conscious times in a woman’s life. Capturing her and the beautiful miracle happening inside her without making her feel uncomfortable requires patience and understanding. Trust me I have learned this first hand from my very feisty girlfriend.
Every mom is different, with a different vision so you cannot recycle ideas, thinking quick on your feet and being able to adapt to her needs is crucial for a successful shoot.
You do not want to end up with images that show fear or tension in your clients faces. You want that split second where their emotion is genuine.
Over the past year I have worked with a lot of expectant ladies, their spouses and newborns. I thank God for giving me the opportunity to capture their beautiful moments, their glow, and the miracles happening in their lives.
Here are some precious moments i have been able to capture. Please feel free to share, comment, and give us your feedback. I would love to hear from you.
